How to play ‘Imagine’ by John Lennon?

I was wondering if anyone knew how to play John Lennon’s song ‘Imagine’ on guitar but not the regular piano chords or even the basic guitar version. I heard the live version of the song on his “Acoustic” album, and I loved it. It’s slightly different than the original because the famous fill-riff is not just composed of notes, but instead chords, which is again, different. Anyone have an explanation for me and everyone? :D

here’s the link if you haven’t heard it:

Well I play it in accordance to my singing, so I put the capo on first fret, and for the verse I play C G Am then when he says “Imagine all the people…” I play E and end the chorus with F.

I don’t know the version John Lennon did on acoustic though.. that is just how I play it.

So, verse is C G Am F

pre Chorus is E, F, Fm

Chorus is same as verse.
