What would be the best electric guitar for me?

I’m just starting out learning guitar and I’m learning a lot of classic rock and newer rock from bands like Metallica, AC/DC, Jimi Hendrix, Rage Against the Machine, Black Sabbath. I’m on a budget of up $350. What would be a good guitar to start off with. I already have the amp and a multi effects pedal.

I get this question a lot and every one always lists their favorite guitar. The problem is that what is right for someone else may not be right for you.
The 2 most common guitar types are the Gibson Les Paul and the Fender Stratocaster. Virtually all other guitars are some kind of variation of these two classic instruments. What you need to do is go to your local music stores and play as many guitars as you can. Start with the two that I mentioned and decide what you like and don’t like about them. This will give you a good starting point when you start trying other guitars. You will want to play a lot of guitars before you find the right one for you. This is a very fun process so take your time and enjoy the hunt! Remember, the only opinion that matters is yours!
