Can you buy an Xbox 360 Guitar Hero game and hook it up and play in on your computer?

I seen my cousin play Guitar Hero 3 on his computer. I heard if you buy Guitar Hero for Xbox 360 you don’t need the Xbox and you can play it on your computer. Is this true? If not, how can my cousin play Guitar Hero on the computer?
