Classic Guitars

Is it possible to play classical guitar without nails? I guess as I often do myself. Many guitarists today and in the past have also done the same. Let tell you the advantages of not nails game and give some tips!
Sharon Isbin in her Classical Guitar Answer Book wrote …
"Classical guitarists can play without nails, but they must be aware that by doing so they are sacrificing certain possibilities of tone and projection – all of which affect the interpretation and musical presentation.
I have played classical guitar and also jazz and blues guitar improvisation for many years and I have been teaching others professionally. I've played with long nails, short nails and no nails at all.
I've seen students who struggle with guitar tones on the guitar. Guitarists nail problem, not guitarists care of your nails and then a terrible pitch and some players with perfect nails and still not a good tone because of faltering technique.
I also met guitarists who played without nails and I've seen electric guitar without nails and finger play Mark Knopfler and others.
As with nearly everything there are pros and cons of different approaches. I like playing without nails for these reasons:
1. It is a challenge to find the tone and make the most of the guitar without nails. You have to play harder to find the higher harmonics and we must work even harder technique on the guitar. No sloppiness is allowed!
2. I like the sweet sound of my fingers touch the strings. The sound created is soft, but the volume will remain satisfactory if play hard and practice developed by calousses.
3. There is a special feeling involved in the life letting the meat touch the strings of a guitar. You get closer to the instrument in any way.
4. Of course, you will have the advantage of not running the risk of broken nails and when do not depend on them anymore.
5. You will be able to play the piano with the correct finger position.
6. You can play the electric guitar with the fingers without risk of destroying your nails.
I now give some of my own tips and experiences of play without nails.
You can find more information at the network because there are many other classical guitarists and lute players who want to play without nails. Here are my tips:
1. It will take one weeks or so to build callouses on your hands after you file your nails. This will improve your playing the guitar and tone, but until then you must be careful not play as intensely as to get blisters.
2. One way to build callouses is to play finger picking on the electric guitar or steel string guitar. I have experienced my blues guitar music is much more dynamic as I play with my fingers instead of with a peak in my electric guitar. I sometimes use to alternate between the thumb and index finger when playing scales and licks and sometimes my index finger and middle finger, or any other way to play classical guitar.
3. You will receive a more smooth and in many ways a more striking on his game without nails grow. However, you may lose some of the higher frequencies. To compensate for this you can see her that
always play with new strings again and if you're a rich man, you can buy a classical guitar with more treble and less severe.
4. When nail sharpener is used (instead, must only cut the nails off!) to maintain short nails could also give a good scope with grooming nail grinder. This will improve your
tone and stimulate your fingertips to be more difficult.
5. As the practice of exercises on your guitar you need to play slowly and with a little harder to get a good tone. It is important not generate tensions as you play. All benefit from learning musicians
relaxation techniques and stretching to prevent injuries.
6. Supporting Practice especially playing (beating of support) with all its fingers and the tone and try to improve as part of his game.
If you feel that the game completely without nails is to hard for you, you might then of this trial period to let them grow, but you can keep them much shorter than his technique has improved. Then run like the claws of a cat. Mostly not used but still affecting your tone and support for your game. As with long nails, you need to polish and care for them.
There are many more things to say about the guitar without nails but personally this technique gives me a tone I like and an exciting challenge and rewarding.
