can you make a ‘digital’ talkbox for guitar?

I’ve been looking into getting a talkbox for my guitar- either a Banshee, Heil, or Free Speech. The problem is that they’re all so expensive (with the exception of Free Speech, but it’s supposed to be a really low quality talkbox).

Look for a ‘vocoder’ patch. A “vocoder” uses microphone input to modulate audio output; the effect is that of a “talking” keyboard or whatever other audio output source that you use the vocoder to modulate.

This won’t be quite like a guitar talkbox, but pretty close, and in some ways better…
