Want to start sampling … But where to start?

Play the guitar, and for the past few months have been increasingly interested in music electronics. Most material Radiohead of Kid A and Amnesiac and such. Also, some Atlas Sound and of course Animal Collective (they are huge in our city, MaryWeather Post Pavilion is huge, I prefer older stuff …) Anyway … I am very interested in making my own. In the class of media, grab a Mac and other things burn Garageband with my ipod touch applications and put together (I do not wear ties to both, I really want to make my own), but I wonder where to start. Garage Band not really cut for me. Fun, but I want something more. I have a synth, Synth Amp, guitars (electric and acoustic) and Amp. But I just want to try to work with the synthesizer to do something. Sorry if this question is vague, but any help on where to start would be very useful
