Guitar Children
Children’s guitar help?
My son is turning 8 this month and I am wanting to get him a guitar. He will be starting lessons soon. I would like a nice one that will last. I talked to a few people and they said the ones at the department stores are junk (like Walmart, Target ect…) I don’t know much about them so does anyone have any ideas as to where I could get one his size. Links would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
the ones you see at wal mart and target, they break easily , and usually get untuned quickly.especially the first act ones.
i would go to your local music shop. don’t spend a lot of money for the first guitar, but don’t spend to little. my first guitar was thrity dollars, got it from ebay, hated it. strings always get untuned , sound was horrible, paint got of easily. i learned a lesson.
i would recommend epiphone. they are a geat brand. also, if your going to order online, order from a realiable site like www.musiciansfriend.com or www.guitarcenter.com
for sizes, go here http://reviews.ebay.com/How-to-Choose-correct-size-amp-type-of-Guitar-for-Child_W0QQugidZ10000000000907264 it will help you figure out which size he will need. it would most likely be a 3/4 size guitar. http://www.guitarcenter.com/6-String-Acoustic-Acoustic-Guitar.gc?o=1 the second and fifth ones down would be good choices for him. they are both five stars. however, if you want to get him an electric guitar, it might cost a bit more because you need an amp.
for electric guitar packages, go here http://www.airportmusic.com/package_eg.htm go near the bottom, that where they start having the 3/4 sized ones. the amps they come with are pretty small, and are battery powered. he will be able to hear himself play, but it won’t be too loud.
good luck and hope this helps
