Guitar Film

Can anyone experienced in film help with camcorder setup?
I want a decent camera to film my friend playing and singing guitar.
But I don’t want to stop there, I want a decent software to edit the video to give it a vintage look.
I realize I’ll probably need an external mic, so I need a camera that has a jack for that.
What equipment should I get? This is something I really want to do, I just have to get the stuff.
What is your budget?
The least expensive camcorder with a mic jack AND manual audio control is the Canon HV40. It is miniDV tape based. Your computer will need a firewire port, you will need a firewire cable (USB will not work) too import the video.
The software you get depends on your computer. To import and edit HDV format video, Windows/Vista usually points to Sony Vegas or Adobe Premiere – there are many others. Macintosh has iMovie bundled and Final Cut – among others – are good…
For mics, a low-end decent stereo mic like the NRG Research SA-800 or the Audio Technical PR)24CM or the RODE stereo video mic will do…
