Should I buy a Takamine acoustic guitar?

My local music store has a sale this week, 50% off all Takamine and Art & Lutherie acoustic guitars. I’ve been looking for a guitar for a while now, I’m a beginner so I was looking for something cheap. The guitar I was thinking of in particular was $600 originally so it would be only $300, sorry but I don’t remember what model it was. I was just wondering if this was a good deal and also if Takamines are usually good quality?

Taks are about the best of the Asian imports and you see lots of performers using them in concert. I have played many that I liked a great deal. I’m guessing that your local music store is offering 50% of list price, not off normal selling price, by the way. That’s still a good deal although you should know that most guitars normally sell at 40% off list price. Still, an extra 10% is a nice incentive.
