Bringing my guitar as a carry on?

I’m traveling to florida for a month because i have family there and theres no way i can go a MONTH without my les paul. Apparently the guitar cant exceed a linear of 49″ (yea my guitar is a little bigger then that) BUT, i brought my old guitar in a soft case on board as a carry on last year when i went down there. This time its my les paul in a hard case. So is there any way i can bring it on as a carry on this time??

you still can bring it as long as it fits in the overhead bin. the people there wont really care if it is a little over the size allowed
