Guitar Like Piano

Need help with guitar/piano chords. Anyone an expert/amateur?

I’m trying to compose a song with the piano and guitar. The note on the piano is C, and then D. I was wondering if there was a good six-string chord to play along with those notes, or two different chords. I know I should know this, but I’m at a road block.

Also, if there is just a chord that sounds good with C, or D, let me know…they don’t have to be in the same key or anything like that. I just can’t find a chord that sounds good with it.

Thank you!!!

There are bunches of chords that can sound good with both of those notes. For example “C”, can function as the root of Cmaj, the third of an Amin, the 5th of an Fmaj or Fminor, the b13th of an Emaj, the 7th of a Dmaj or Dmin, the 9th of a Bb maj or min, the b9th of a Bmaj or Bmin, the aug 5th of an Eaug7, the dim 5 of an F#dim7….

And the same goes for a D, only one step higher for all the chords.

Chords that contain both a C and a D:
Cmaj9
C7maj9
D7
Dmin7
F6
and bunches more.
