Guitar Stuff To Buy
What’s better to do? buy a guitar pack with an amp and other stuff, or just a guitar and amp separately ?
I’m gonna purchase an electric guitar at my local store, (i have experience on acoustic), and i need help deciding whether I should buy an amp and guitar separately, or if I should buy a pack. I don’t need too many things, really, just a guitar and amp, but I herd amps can be like hundreds of dollars, which would add to the cost of the whole thing majorly. But still ,all i need is a guitar with an amp. What should I get?
Amps, like guitars, are priced according to the manufacturer and quality of the components. For example, a small $70 Fender solid-state practice amp (like one that you would use and would come in a pack) is made on an assembly line with low-quality components, but it would certainly suit your needs. However, a custom-built split-channel tube amp with plenty of accoutrement would cost 5,000 bucks. Same thing with a guitar. If you bought a $99 Squire Stratocaster, it would probably fill your needs. If you ordered a custom instrument from a luthier like me, if could run you up to $15,000. I think in your case, it would be slightly better to purchase a used guitar and used amp. I would tell you to avoid Guitar Center and similar stores like the plague! Support your local stores and see if they will make a deal with you if you will buy a used guitar and amp together. If that doesn’t work, use your local Craigslist.org page. If that fails, THEN go to an online retailer or Guitar Center and buy a package. The packages cost more because they are convenient. Just make sure to do your research and rock on.
