Why red hot chili peppers have a second guitarist?

They have a second guitarist, playing guitar, because many the songs on the new album Stadium Arcadium, the studio version of the songs have the same rhythm on guitar, when John plays the solo. The guitar you see is called Josh Klinghoffer who is a friend of John, and has played with many other famous bands like Jane's Addiction and Nine Inch Nails.
