I respect this list.
Because JONNY GREENWOOD is on it. He’s a genius and is so often absent from the best-guitarist lists.
Crapton? Seriously? Call him overrated (if you must), but crap? Come on now…
First things first– “Tears in Heaven” was not “drivel”. He wrote it about his -dead son- as part of dealing with his grief. It’s a bit callous to call it “drivel,” don’t you think?
Second– That list isn’t half bad. And you’re right–it’s about time Jonny Greenwood got some recognition. But there was just something about some of the ranking… I felt some of the guitarist (Pete Townsend for one) should have been closer to #1, but as I continued down, I couldn’t figure out -who- I’d want to switch because they are all good.
But seriously–and this has been addressed already–where IS Harrison? He plays a crucial role in the development of rock, and is one of the most influential guitarists of all time. I get that he’s not the -best-, but I feel his sheer influence should count for something… …(And he’s better than Frampton at the very least…who I also felt should have been closer to #1)
