Major scales on guitar?

I have trouble understanding what they mean when they say a scale has keys in it, i totally understand the chords and even the blues scales and some of the others, but my brain refuses to accept how its done

Terry, above, has a great basic explanation of scales. I couldn;t have explained it better myself(I’ve been playing and teaching for many years). There are some good sites which can help.
