I just wanted Toanswer some questions about the Weissenborn Lap Steel Guitar Slide I built a few months using only simple hand tools while living on my boat! I had a lot of consultations on these guitars and I thought it might take time to explain, basically, why if you are considering building a guitar for the first time its a great way to start your career because it is so easy construct compared with an acoustic guitar with a neck especially in a thorough and exacting and precise fret spacing

As some of you know that also built a website featuring slide guitars, lap steels and a lot of interesting material about the fascinating world of slide guitar. For those of you who are interested the guitar was built after plans for a Weissenborn Style 2 1920 maple wood from Australia and the only difference from the original I made the neck is 2.5 inches deep instead of 1.5inch and 4.5-inch body instead of 2.5 inches … the sound is wonderful as is the volume and rich tones … making weissy sound so good?

I have written a series of articles that will appear in the network in a few places and there's a world of information to explore for free! the sound is absolutely fantastic and there was nobody more surprised than me! I had taken years to have the courage to actually begin to build a guitar and basically do not know what worries me! The choice of wood, maple Australia had much to do with the good results and it is not surprising really, as Maple is a cousin of Koa wood most famous guitars are constructed from slides.

I also the body of the guitar much deeper that the original style of two plans and ran around two inches wider. The plans come on CD-Rom and you can get the plan printed out or architects AO A1 his role .. probably much easier to work from most people. All the basic instructions are on the step, by step and explained everything very carefully considering that for many will be his first guitar build. Why the Weissenborn slide guitar as a first build? Well, in a way it's done trap, because like most people are aware, the strings are not touched, but the fingers of his left hand only with a plate of glass or steel or brass
