Guitar Hero III Legends of Rock: Guitar Move.?

My friend has owned Guitar Hero III for a while, and he can do this thing when he has Slash as his charachter, that he can make his guitar (in the video game) shoot laser lights. How do you do that? Does it only happen in the PS3 (I have a PS2)? Do you have to be in star mode? Is there a certain guitar you have to buy? Please specify when answering.

It only happens in 360 and PS3 it doesn’t have it in PS2 and Wii I don’t know why maybe Nintendo was too stupid to reject it. I really like those effects and they are awesome.
