My parents wont let me take guitar…?

My parents wont let me take Guitar… I want to sign up for the class for my Junior year for half a year since I need more Fine Arts credits, and its one of the few classes I can take, but they wont let me. They think i’m going to become “wrapped up with drugs and hang out with bad kids” just because I learn to play the guitar. I mean, in the class, all we learn is 2 songs – Greensleeves and Wild Thing. The class is like SUPER basic and its just getting started. I just want to take the class because my friends are taking it and i get a credit that i need. It’s only half a year class too. But my parents are being a pain and refuse to let me take it. Instead they want me to take a stupid “Art appreciation” class where you learn how to appreciate art. Wow, whoop-de-doo.
Anyways, I don’t know what to do. They don’t sound like they’ll change their decision at all, and I have to turn in my registration for classes tomorrow. What should I do? I really want that class.

I play guitar and i’m not a drug addict. Tell them that guitar isn’t all about sex, drugs and rock and roll. Theres classical stuff too.

Ask them why they don’t trust you, say that you’re very mature and that you’ll never be around drugs. It’s only a lesson, its not like you’re going out to a big rock show to get high or anything..
