Top Guitar Songs For Beginners
I just got an acoustic guitar for my birthday, and I’m going to start learning to play. QUESTIONS?
1- Is there a particular method you would suggest starting with? As far as reading a beginner’s book or watching a dvd on the subject…or maybe watching those lessons people give on YouTube.
2- Should I start with a pick or just finger strumming or whatever you’d call it?
3- Is there a popular website you go to that has chords to alot of songs (a free site).
4- And my last question, I hope I can type this in a way that makes sense…
When I play a G, I have a finger on the top string, 2nd string, and bottom two strings I think it is, well, in that case, I obviously strum all the strings on the guitar. But what about a chord that I only hold the bottom two strings or something? Would I only strum the bottom two strings for that chord? Or still strum them all?
Does that make any sense?….
THANKS FOR ANY HELP!
1. Pretty much any video/book type tool you use will be of equal quality… but if you can get a real person to help you it would be better. You should focus on learning scales first, then move to chords.
2. It depends on what you want to do. If you want to do anything technical (melodies instead of just chords) then you’re going to need a pick… but if you just want to strum, it really won’t matter.
3. When you find a song you want to learn, just go to google and type “*song name* guitar tabs” and start clicking on links… there are MILLIONS of websites that offer this and none of them have every song, so its better to just google each song.
4. It depends on the chord. You’ll never play only two strings for a chord, but sometimes you will leave out either one or two strings. In tab form, a left out string is usually represented by an X. You almost always strum at least 4 strings though, and you NEVER go lower than three. Tab sheets should help you figure out what to do…
